Hi guys hoping to tap in to the fountain of knowledge you all seem to have.What make the difference in power in the 1.8 turbo as they go from 150 bhp to 190.Is it just the ecu is programed different or is it a completely different set up?Any help will be appreaciated thanks.

Yep you got it, just a different map in the ecu, so the manufacturers can sell different levels of performance more cost effectivily.

cool so if i was to get a 163 i could just get it remaped up to 190?

I was under the assumption that the 1.8t 163 variant was single side mount I/C and the 190 was dual side mount I/C? Is this incorrect?

yes the 190 has ic either side

im sure its more than the IC and map cos of the power gains you get i may be wrong but i think the fueling side is diff aswell

Do you know of any guides anywhere as to the differences between engine codes for the 1.8t?

If anyone is wondering (as I was and had to ring Audi to find out) the s-line 190 engine code ends in 'BEX'.

Different injectors/turbo/ not just software... but a remap will get you up to 195 bhp on a 163 version..

Just trying to regain some of the power loss from moving from my old MR2 to the Audi!

In terms of prep for a remap, I'm assuming that apart from a service and an uprated d/v or bov, thats all thats really required/recommended?

I was thinking along the lines of the forge splitter, that way if I get bored of the dump I can switch it to re-circ and vice versa...

The main reason for changing it was from reading different posts on here saying the the stock one leaks boost or struggles to hold boost higher up?
