Hi guys,

Am on the train down to an auction today and would really appreciate any help you all can give. Car I'm looking at is a 3.0 quattro sport manual. 04 plate - warrantied miles at 50k.

It appears not to have been serviced for 20k miles. Hpi'd it and it is completely clear. 3 previous owners.

I've picked up general things to look for from the forum, but is there anything I should look for specific? I'll make sure I'm next to it when driven in to hear it start/get under the bonnet etc.

Also at 50k does that the belts will need doing next service (which I'm assuming I'll have to get done asap, and how much will that cost!?

Thanks in advance - perhaps I'll post some pics when I get there.

David

Cambelt needs doing every 60k miles or 5 years, whichever comes first and you should get the water pump done at the same time whilst it's accessible as it's only an extra 50 quid or so.

Costs vary but Stafford Audi dealers are a good benchmark at http://www.audicambelt.co.uk/ which other Audi dealers might also match. Can also try your local indie or Audi specialist that may be a bit cheaper.

Thanks darkhorse! The car has had some paintwork redone and the alloys are a bit scuffed. Not a particularly good sign. But otherwise it's in a very good state. Light blue with black leather and the dreaded wood trim.
