Leon cuts-out at low speeds

Hi all,

I've got a 2004 1.6S Leon and confess that I don't know a great deal about cars! Over the past month or so, whenever I'm coming to a stop (with the clutch fully depressed), the engine cuts out / stalls. It also does it when I'm turning right and is accompanied by a horrible clunking noise.

I recently had the front pipe replaced in an attempt to fix it, but it's still playing up. Someone I know mentioned that they had a similar problem with their Golf GTi and fixed it by replacing the idle control valve, but wondered if anyone could tell me if this sounds right??

i would clean out and reset throttle housing at first to see if it is that
