Just ordered my golf, need new alloys!

Hi

I have just ordered my new MK6 Golf 1.6TDI S. The only problem was the fact that the only optional alloys that i could choose i really didnt want to ive gone for the free steels for the time being. Because i dont know anything about cars i was hoping that someone could point me in the right direction as to which alloys to go for? Was hoping to get 17" ones but not sure on compatibility and tyres etc

most alloys designed for the mk5 golf will go straight on no problems, going up to 17" may require lowering the car though.

Your best bet is to look arround on eBay and classifieds for a second hand set of alloys that have been removed from a new MK6 Golf. If you don't want to lower I'd stick with 16" alloys, otherwise 17"/ 18"s are best once its been lowered a few mm.

Will go for the 16" alloys i think, what about tyre size? What would be best?
