Most 'Eggy' smells from cars with catalytic converters are caused by an over-rich fuel mixture, unburnt fuel being oxidised/increased exhaust temperature causing 'Sulphur Dioxide' to be released from your exhaust.

Fuel accumulating in the cylinders overnight can react with the cat on startup and release an eggy smell.

If the smell is only present on startup there is not much to worry about, it indicates that your cat is still working. If the smell persists when the engine is warm your car is running too rich/hot.

Another less common 'eggy' smell is associated with an over-charging battery releasing 'Hydrogen Sulphide', caused by a faulty alternator.
