Hi all, I am going on a trip to the scottish highlands shortly, a trip of 650 miles in one hit, and probably a total of 2500 miles in 2 weeks.

I have recently had a new cambelt and tensioners, metal waterpump and oil and filter change (longlife 111 fully synthetic + larger filter) coolant bleed screw replaced (old one sheared off causing loss of coolant), new discs and pads all round and very good goodyear f1 tyres.

Is there anything else i should take or replace before my trip? was thinking of spare coils? will also keep my eye on the oil light!!!!

Car is 2004 1.8T quattro s-line 190, 63K miles.:approve:

you don't seem to have much confidence in your car if you are thinking it's going to breakdown in the next two weeks, or it's not going to reach
65,500mls ?
have faith,it will be fine,
regards,
stewy.

You do realise you've bought an Audi and not a Fiat don't you? I did 45k in my 1.8T in just under a year and had no coil pack problems at all.

Ya, I was wondering. It's not as if you are going across a desert. Pretty sure Scotland is still fairly civilised. Enjoy the trip and relax re car!

Cheers, looking foward to the getaway, i did not want to seem negative about Audi reliability, but you can read a lot of problems on this site, especially relating to oil pickup problems with the 1.8T.

Its human nature to highlite the negatives but not the positive things in life!

Perhaps a post could be started on how reliable your Audi has been.

By the way i also have a 1996 1.8T with 190K on clock and its been great for the 6 years i have owned it!!:approve:

Take a few tools with you large bottle of water duck tape and some oil just in case.
