Headlight part numbers?

Hi all,

I'd like to find out the part numbers for the headlights on my 51 plate A4 Avant 130pd. Trouble is the stickers are out of sight under the bodywork and I don't really fancy pulling the units out just to look at the number.

Is there another way of finding out?

I use vagcat.com

According to them the part number for the left headlight is 8E0941029D (or E) - The final letter depends on your VIN number.

Right headlight is 8E0941030D (or E)

Prices are about €170 each.

What's the significance of the final letter, then? Are the D and E variants the same part?

Letters after a part number usually identify them as revisions or redesigns. In this case though, D is for VIN numbers up to 8E-3-280 000 and E is from 8E-3-280 001 (The dash after the letter E and number 3 (-) means that any number can go in there. The first - is for model type, the other is for year of manufacture (I think?!))
