I had (what look to be) the same ones on my B6 S4. I swapped them out when I was part-exing the car with a view to putting them in this one.

However all the blue paint was falling off the bulb and ended up everywhere within the fog light housing :(

Admittedly they'd been in there for about 4 years and it probably won't be an issue to you but I thought I'd mention it.

p.s. Looks much better .... although yellow works better in the fog ! :biglaugh:

They look great :beerchug:. Why does it not come with these as standard?

Do you have any info on them as I would like some - are they a special fitment?

Is it these (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/H11-White-HID-XENON-6000K-Halogen-Bulbs-Headlight-55W_W0QQitemZ270425941321QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Car sParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item3ef6a46549&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A2136%7C 293%3A1%7C294%3A50)?

Are they easy to do?

Excellent, I think the dull yellow look fog lights look rubbish when compared to the LEDs and white looking xenons.

I replaced my existing factory fit fog lights with some Osram Nightbreaker H11 +50% Whiter. They didn't look ANY different. The bulbs I took out were made by Osram and had exactly the same code detailed on them.

I was a little worried about buying the 'blue' style as thought these might look a bit chavvy.

Assume the photos posted are a fair resemblance of how they look to the eye?

So, anyone upgraded the halogen headlights (dipped beam and/or main) on the SE and got good results?

I fitted similar (blue) bulbs to my 9-3 (dipped beam projector style) and had to remove them as the night range was very poor. Replaced with Osram Silverstar.

Dont go for cheap alternative, go for the above.

I know they are H7 fitting for a B6 but I have just fitted to mine and they make a huge difference, if you search on the net, they won the best bulb of 2008 (bet you wish you were judging that:D

The H7's are going for as little as £16.99, and if you want the blue look, go for the Blue Vision one's.

Havent seen H11 fitting yet, but they must be on the way if you cant get them.

For H7 fitment ie. front lights main or high beam I used these on my Golf GTI

Yes they are 80W but not that bright that you can tell, but the colour was great.
I would of had them for my A4 fog lights but they don't do that fitment (H11).

I pulled the front fog light cover off....

Be brave but not careless when pulling on them.

Four clips where the red is and the two blue bits clip into the front fender.

No problem...

Just set up my xenon's tonight, one side was higher than the other.
Little things like that really bug me.
I didn't think you could adjust them, but you can.
It's a plastic white allen key adjuster type of thingy just at the back of the light.

I also took so more pic's as it was getting dark.
I'm really pleased with the match.

I got mine this morning (Reg plate LED's) and fitted them tonight.
Unfortunately one of them does work. So I'm sending them back.
The one that worked did look good tho.
Hopefully They will send some out to me tomorrow (Friday), so I might get them and fit them before I go back to work.
I will post pics when done.

You have probably just put your headlights out of their correct position, most likely you will be blinding on coming drivers now. What you should do is have the headlights adjusted by a garage correctly.

The fog lights do look better now but the efficiency will be affected, yellow light is better than white light in fog.

I only adjusted one of them as it was a bit lower than the other. I have driven during the dark hours and nobody has flashed me.
As for the fogs, what driving I have done in the fog the fog lights have been nowt but useless more so in the dark.

Has anyone tried the Osram Nightbreaker +90% in the fog lights ?

If so how do they compare for a) light output and b) for 'whiteness'

Philipps still don't seem to do a H11 fitting for their X Treme range

Bratty

On headlight adjustment if the lights have been correctly set by an Audi dealer but you are still being flashed , it is possible that they are on there upper limit (every bump attracts unwanted brightness in the eyes of oncoming traffic) if so there is a a torx screw (fixing point) on the top of the headlight loosen it and then adjust the smaller torx a bit (clockwise) so it pushes the whole assy down, then when you tighten the upper bolt , make sure you apply a gentle pressure rearwards so that the adjuster screw is actually in contact with the stop. It takes seconds to do and unless you are a complete drama queen it is well within the scope of anyone that can drive.

He was probably confused by the confusing name of the bulbs. HID - High Intensity Discharge is "proper" Xenon lights with ballasts etc.

Badging bulbs that are simply filled with Xenon gas but use an filament instead of an arc to create the light could be confusing. It's obviously to imply it's a match for a HID light.

Of course working in Halfords he should have been able to tell it was a filament bulb! Doh!

p.s. I've got annoyed by the yellow light simply when locking and unlocking the car so I've ordered a set of these too :beerchug:

I also installed the same Philips X-treme +80% bulbs as recommended by Auto Express into the (SE) dipped beam headlights this week-end. It's a fiddly task - especially reinstalling the new bulb back into the correct position - but I managed it without any real drama. The results are definately good, but wonder if the +80% is really that obvious? Of course, I can't recall the beam pattern for original Audi bulbs now and didn't think to take any before and after pics! Oh well, I am not that worried that I need to re-compare! ;)

These ones were a bit more expensive at £28 and I don't think I will bother with the main beam.

Hey Bris............

I found them quiet easy to fit the first cover came off no problems and thats the hardest part (getting the cover off) but the other side was a real bit(h to get off but i had to just keep going and eventually it cam..I had to be very forcefull with it so dont be shy..

Putting the covers back was easy they just pushed back into place however iv got to say the arnt quiet as tights as they was before i took them off not that anyone else would notice....

I just did mine in the freeeeezing cold. Even with it being so cold the grills stil came out fine with just some firm effort.

I started on the centre most edge and whilst pulling out, wobbled them up and down. Both sides can out equally easily. I found the S-line grills are identicle to the S4 but have a clip in additional blank.

Good to see the back of that yellow light (which is more noticable when looking at what it shines on) :D

TBH, no.

First time I did, until I noticed that I hadn't seated the fog light properly and this kept the trim from snapping back properly.

Cheers everyone who gave advice on this thread.

Despite my wife being suspicious of the package from Hong Kong (arrived within a week depite my initial sceptism of ebay purchasing from the Far East!) this was a surprisingly easy, yet satisying venture.

My tip is if you have the s-line front grill you do not need to put a screwdriver anywhere near the trim (this for some has resulted in broken tabs). I found a finger grab and compression of the two horizontal middle bars at the end closer to the number plate was enough to tweak one or two of the tabs out. It was then a case of "wobbling" the grill up and down and within 10 seconds it all comes out.

Really pleased with getting rid of the yellow tint fogs. The front end now looks so more upmarket and all for £6.49 including postage. :beerchug:

Well, I bought a set as the yellowish fogs annoy me compared to the xenons.

The bulbs do not appear to be as described, the website claims they are CE and E marked, as far as I can see they aren't, the website also claims they are actually blue glass rather than blue coated clear glass which could peel off, they are in fact blue coated.

I've only fitted one of them to allow comparison in the dark (photos later) fitting was a doddle using this method

I did take a photo of them against my white garage door (dodgy drunken 1/4 second exposure) fogs on in "coming home" mode, with LED DRLs on too, XTEC on left, original OSRAM on right.

I also contacted the supplier, they said the first batch of XTEC they received were E marked, and the bit about being blue coated was a mistake which they'll correct on the website, they have offered a refund or exchange for the MTEC bulbs which they say are definitely E marked.

I would find out the bulb type first, don't know what type they are in the A5, but the cheap pair of white H11's I bought of ebay in May 2011, which I mentioned in my post above, have worked faultlessly, would definately buy another and they are a good match.

I bought a set of the 'original' xenon match fog light bulbs that the OP posted back in 2009

They are still going strong (touches wood)

I'm sure that these ones from Hong Kong are not E marked. they have however passed an MOT at an Audi garage if anyone is worried about this

Just out of interest I also fitted some LED number plate light bulbs which I know were defo not E marked and they went thro' the MOT no probs also
