Suppose to be against EU rules but that ain't going to change. Pity, casue you could get some cheap cars.

The VRT rates here in Ireland have changed since last year (June?). VRT is now based on CO2 emissions? Unfortunately this applies to new cars registered since Jan 2008 only. Bringing in cars from the UK that were first registered there before Jan 2008 means we still have to pay the old VRT rates which are really expensive!

Hi all,
I'm quite new to this forum but seeing as we are talking about meets and stuff, my friend who is a member of the GTI NI owners club mentioned to me that they are having a show in the Kings Hall, Belfast on Sunday 11th April.

He says that they are gonna have over 150 cars on show ( including VW ;), Seat Audi etc ) so should be a good day out.

Details can be found on gtini.com

Hello to everyone here! Never noticed this section of forum as I was gone to Audi A4 section as soon as I got registered. Got my baby in September this year, very happy with it so far. Not without problems of course, she's 2001 with 128k miles on the clock, so probs were expected. Good to see some people from Ireland here. Although I'm not Irish by birth, but lived in Ireland for last 11 years. Workmates call me 'plastic paddy'

Hi All, just joined the site after picking up 2009 A4, had an A6 but some bastids broke in and took the keys and car, but hope to put that in the past with my new used purchase. Not too many of us around by the look of things but we can still help each other out any way we can even though I only know about the few problems I have had in the past.
Top of my list of helps is do not buy cheap diesel, it is a false economy and will end up costing you bigtime especially if you listen to the main dealers and so called specialists.

Hi everyone !
Sounds like you guy's are getting screwed with the price of your VRT.
I have been on the forum for near 4 years now and have just discovered
the Ireland section. May start posting here in the future.

Marko.
