Hello I'm having a problem with my Audi A3 1.8T 1999 Engine AGU.

I've been away for 2 weeks started the car it struggled to start as the battery ran down a bit so I ran it for about 20 minutes to get the charge back up and left it on idle while I did some stuff around the house. At this point it was fine.

Came back to it to find that the engine was shaking and it had lost power. The engine was misfiring.

I carried out the following actions:

Disconnected each coil pack cylinder 3 found to be not firing.

Changed spark plug in Cylinder 3 still not firing.

Swapped Coil pack cylinder 3 + 4 problem. Misfire stays on cylinder 3.

Indicates problem is not with coil pack.

Scanned engine with vagcom:

18010 - Power Supply Terminal 30: Voltage too Low
P1602 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
00515 - Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40)
30-10 - Open or Short to B+ - Intermittent

I'm guessing the first fault is due to the low batt. Not sure about the second one.

Cleared Engine fault codes with Vag-Com, Still misfires.

Also disconnected battery for 20 minutes to reset the ecu.

Put a load of injector cleaner in the tank but I'm clutching at straws.

My next plan is to replace the Ignition Amplifier Module.

Any ideas/Anyone knows of any common faults?

Check the wiring to the coil pack

It's fixed now, turned out to be the Ignition Amplifier Module as expected.

Part No. 4D0 905 351

Although I was lucky, as I bought it at risk.

Somebody experience said he had known these to fail in the past.

Anyway found this guide to testing the Ignition Amplifier Module. So you can be sure before you buy one.
