faulty air con

Hi, a friend of mine has an octavia, approx 5 years old. The air con has failed and he has been quoted over £800 for supply and fitting of a new compressor unit. He's a bit stunned by the price - does it sound reasonable and has anyone come across a better deal?

ive been told they are cheap
then find a specialist or air con specialist to quote for job if you supply the parts
