a3 1.8t abs problem

today my abs light started to come on. some times from when i started up, or sometimes when i would be driving along and it would come on! if while it was on i switched my engine off and on ( while moving) it would go away then come back in a bit?!

what can be causing this / is there an easy way to find out?

i notice vag software is availble, how good is this and how expensive?

sounds like a speed sensor has gone, but you will need vag com off ebay or somewhere or get someone on here to have a quick look for you
