Nipped down the local retail park yesterday, went in to Homebase for a few bits and pieces, came out and put stuff in the back, then the good lady spots a new Boots store,go in and have look in there, come back out and the zapper won't unlock the car,she gets hers out and that won't work either.

After figuring out how get the cover off the keyhole, putting the key in the ignition all seems to work again.

Only theory I can come up with is the anti theft device at Boots had upset the system.

One possibility is that there is a high power transmitter nearby that is swamping the VW receiver in the car. There have been instances of this happeing to other makes of car parked near a taxi firm or broadcasting radio station etc.

I have also heard of similar instances where the car was locked by a signal from a cheapo illegal set of cordless headphones operating on the standard remote frequencies which are around 433 Mhz. (not sure what VW uses).

Infrared is better but not much range so guess that's why most build radio remotes.

Would be interesting to see if it happens again in the same place
