Today I did an enhancement detail on my neighbour’s new car, a Pininfarina-styled 406 Peugeot Coupe. The car looked like it had spent plenty of time going to the local car wash which had left it covered in swirls which was robbing the car of it full colour leaving it looking grey rather than black.

The plan of attack was to start on the wheels, tyres and arches using megs super degreaser and bilberry. Arches and tyres sprayed first with degreaser and worked with a long handled brush then jet washed with the pressure washer.
Wheels were sprayed with the bilberry and scrubbed with ez detail brush, megs wheel face brush and a swissvax style brush, this got most of the the wheel clean but had to use megs wheel brightner on the inner face as I only have 1 bottle of bilberry made up to 6/1dilution which was just not coping with the build up on the inner face the wheels they were then blasted with the pressure washer. No pics as the camera was still on charge at this point.
The car was then was then snow foamed using valet pro PH neutral which was left to do it’s magic whilst I filled up my buckets and got my other stuff sorted, this was then pressure washed off. This may be strange to some people but I then put another coat of snow foam on the car to help as lubrication as I washed the car using the 2 bucket method, the car was then rinsed using a open end hose and a little help from a light shower of rain.
Whilst the car was still wet I clayed the car using serious performance ultra fine detailing clay (orange) and megs last touch as lube, it’s the first time I’ve used this product and was really impressed with it as it’s a larger than average bar and is really easy to use. The car was really rough to the touch when I was washing it so it was no real surprise that the clay ended up looking like this.

After claying the car was re-rinsed and then dried with megs last touch and a serious performance Uber drying towel. Leaving me with a car ready for taping up but on the way round the car I found a small patch of rust, which the owner said he is going to get sorted.

After I had taped the car I started on the paint work using my Makita rotary, 150mm/75mm 3m black polishing pads and dodo lime prime, lime prime was spread at a low speed and then stepped up slightly to allow it to work on the paint. The residue was removed using an Uber buffing towels.

I also found another slight paint issue for the owner to get sorted when he gets the rust fixed, it look’s as if the petrol flap has had some paint at some point which has not been done to a very high standard.

Once I had gone round the car with the lime prime it was ready for the LSP, which I decided was going to be valet pro artemis wax which is another newly bought product that I hadn’t used before but had heard really good things about it. The wax was applied a panel at a time using the red side of a ultimate german applicator pad then buffed with Uber buffing towels. I found this wax very easy to use and it was easy on/off product and left a nice glossy finish leaving me with this,

Best part of the day was Ronnie’s reaction when he came home and saw the car for the first time, well worth the sunburn and the sliced thumb.
