As per the PC world tv advert. Its caught my attention about streaming the likes of iplayer and itvplayer etc etc to a tv elsewhere in the house.

I'm looking at this product.

what is this Viiv that is mentioned?

Does anyone have any experience with this technology?

I found this http://www.intel.com/support/viiv/sb/CS-021546.htm

I am running an AMD Athalon 64 x2 Dual core processor 4200+
2.21 GHz 3.17 GB of Ram (4 x 1GB sticks)

this is my motherboard http://uk.asus.com/Search.aspx?SearchKey=a8r-mvp and http://www.trustedreviews.com/motherboards/review/2006/01/12/Asus-A8R-MVP-Motherboard/p1

Am i compatible?

Hi,
Your AMD wont have ViiV technology... You only get it in some Intel Core 2 Duo processors.

Basicly its built into the process and allows you to attach WiFi devices easier directly to the PC without using a router -> IE linking a PS3 with the PC without the need of a Wireless router.

I have h it on mine however never bother with it!
I guess its good if you are wanting to stream full HD without losing speed

But streaming HD using WiFi never works satisfactorily, unless the devices are next to each other. Wired is currently the only way to get consistently high quality through UK brick/block walls

oddly, that is what i have. i use the devolo 85mbps home plugs to connect my pc (upstairs) to the router and XT downstairs, also the ip camera in the babys room.

I do not stream from the pc as the whole point was not to have 2 appliances turned on. However, i can access my photo, video and music folders on my pc via my XT if the PC is on.
