I have a seat toledo 1999 1.8 V20S, i have developed what appears to be an electrical fault, The car will start up perfectly, but then instead of idling, will just lose all power even though the accelerator is pressed. This has now started to occur while driving, i.e will be cruising along at 40 or so mph, then without warning all power will die. This is happening more frequently.
Hve had the car at the local garage who kept it for 10 days and ran various diagnostic tests, before admitting defeat, my question is, is this a common simple fault, or is this something quite major. Hope you can help

take car to a specialist and get them to diag test it

Could this be the engine management putting it into "limp home" mode? Had a similar thing in a Seat Toledo years ago - not much fun when you are doing 80mph and the power goes! The Seat garage had to get someone in from Seat to diagnose it - definitely involved plugging a laptop in though.
