Autobrite snow foaming gun...

Snowfoamed, left to dwell for 5mins, a good wipe over with a lambs wool wash mit and then power rinsed off and dried...

Yeh...

6.5m long x 4m wide ish...
It's more of a car port with doors at the front and a fence at the rear.

I rinse the snow foam before washing, so it is used as a pre-wash. I find more dirt comes off this way.

I agree with Plife, I snow foam once then rinse, then snow foam again and then wash with it still on with Chemical Guys Shampoo and wax, v.good. I only bought a small bottle (about £10) and had the car for 7 months and still half left, V good value for money !!!

Mind you this is offset from the amount of snow foam I am getting through, a lot of fun though......

I like your application as I only have a hose and a spray bottle which means it does not have the same effect. :(

The foam wasn't fresh, Id let it the dwell for a while before taking a picture.
I'll post one up when fresh. It's really thick when fresh.

ok,
i've brought myself a snowfoam lance for the karcher + 5L of foam and a sheepskin wash mit

is this what i do???

snow-foam the car
rinse off with water, medium power
snow-foam again
wash with shampoo , using sheepskin mitt in lieu of sponge
rinse off on high power
clean the tyre's
clean the wheels (autoglum wheel cleaner)
rinse off tyre's, wheel arches
dry with one of them rubber blade type things
follow up with leather (real one or synthetic?)
polish the glass (autoglym glass polish)

job done.

when do i wax?

and.. can i get away with just snowfoaming once a week and it still coming up pretty good? i.e; almost zero effort?

I wouldnt do many of those steps.

To keep a swirl and scratch free clearcoat I would do the following

Rinse car with hose to remove as much loose debris as possible
Snow Foam with a mix of shampoo and snowfoam and warm water in your dispenser. Let the mixture rest on the car for 5-10 minutes. I would do this as light as possible with the jet wash. maybe shoot it into the air so it falls onto the car. There is an article in this weeks Auto Express on the best snow foam to use.
Rinse with water running from a hose
Wash with two bucket method using a sheep washmitt
Rinse with water from a hose again
I never use a jet wash on highpower because it moves grit and dirt around at high speed on the surface. Try cleaning your patio with one on high power to see what it can do to that, why would you do that on your car?
Then dry with a Drying towel made from Microfibre. http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/washing-and-drying/huge-38-x-28-microfibre-drying-towel/prod_154.html Place this open on the car and lift off. Do not use it to wipe with as any small bits of grit will ruin the paintwork. I would certainly not use a Chamois or one of those blade dry things. An article on Fifth gear showed both of these methods ruined the car some time ago
Possible clay at this point if you can feel and stubborn marks on the body work.
I then wax at this point but throughout the year Ill use different types of wax, sealant and maybe some other products depending on the time of year.

Wash the wheels at any point but if you use some of the higher chemical based products be certain not to get them on the car. I eather seal or wax the alloys to ensure easier cleaning later.

This is a good routine. Only things I would change is I do not rinse the car first, but apply snow foam to a dry car. I find more dirt comes off this way as the foam clings longer to the car.

I use 2 mitts and 2 towels for washing and drying the car, 1 for top half and 1 for bottom half.

I wash the wheels first off as they seem to take ages and of course a different mitt and bucket for these!

My personal process on a 2 weekly basis is simply
wash wheels
foam
rinse
wash
rinse
dry
Takes about 2 hours.

Every 4 - 6 months I spend some more time

foam with APC mix
rinse
foam
rinse
wash
rinse
clay
wash
rinse
dry
2 layers of sealent
2 layers of wax

I used to wash my cars every weekend before Rak junior came along last October. Lucky if I get time to even get to the car wash. Must get it washed today on the way home. It hasn't been done in the three weeks I've had it.

One thing I will say is that you really get to know your car when you wash it yourself.

Here's how I treated my car when it first arrived http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=242694&postcount=30.

Have since invested in foam lance through which I pump ValetPro Ph neutral snow foam. I have also replaced the AutoGlym wheel cleaner with Biberry (which is not acidic and will therefore not damage the wheels after prolonged use) and agitate with a Vikan brush.

Car has been re-clayed, polished and waxed in the Spring and I must say that the clay makes the biggest impact, especially on a very light car, as it literally pulls out a lot of the black contaminants that polish can't touch and presents you with a pristine surface for the polishing and waxing process.

Still on the same bottle of Gold Class shampoo but have also tried Duragloss 901 which was OK but not much different. Will probably give DoDo Born to be Mild shampoo a go next and will get a new drying cloth. Original sheepskin mit as good as new as is the car apart from a few inevitable stone chips.

Sounds like a lot of work but it takes me around an hour to foam, wash and dry the car after taking the trouble to go through the above process.
