Today i had a go in the new TTRS and its a fair bit of kit but £50,000 makes me wonder if its worth holding on another year for a used R8 :p

I'm not sure they're all they're cracked up to be to be honest.

After a weekend with the TT RS I have to say the car was excellent. That engine Oh my god its good. I bet it would give the R8 V8 a run for its money.

I'm not a big fan of TT (Hairdressers Cars) But that changed my mind. Anyone who can afford an R8 V8 I would recommend trying the TT RS first almost half the price.

The demo was 50K and if I had the money I would pay it.

It wouldn't get anywhere near the R8, trust me its not even close.Second hand R8 £65,000 the V10 is of course £100.000 plus but the V8 is better and cheaper and not much more than the ttrs. For me its a no brainer or the 4f rs6 which again can be sought around £63000 and that's the daddy of them all

174mph Versus 178mph I would like to see. By the way I have drive the R8 V8 and apart from cornering I do not see much in it.

I will wait for a second hand TT RS ;)

R8 v TTRS #? well, according to an Audi insider they have lied about the TTRS acceleration times, it is quicker on both the 0-100kph and 1/4 mile than the r8.

Isn't the TTRS still only Haldex not full time quattro? R8 for me every time, but I do like the TTRS wide looks and the use of the I5.

R8 also uses a Haldex type system as in the main it is rear wheel drive

I didn't realise that. I thought the R8 was similiar to the C6 RS6 being able to transfer around 70% to the rear, or the A4 (maybe just RS4 not sure) 60/40 Torsen split.

Either way, all lovely cars, none of which I'd say no to. R8 V8 for me though based on S/H cost and the V8 growl!

If you get a chance you want to hear the TTRS it does sound better and I love the R8

Rumour has it that for TTRS 2011 model it will be offered a 7 speed DSG as an option. It is internally known as PQ-500 & can handle up to 600Nm of torque. I think this is missing link in the TTRS. Equipped with DSG, the TTRS would be awesome.
Like it or not DSG is here to stay. It has to be the greatest change in gearbox technology since gears were invented.

Also can you really compare the R8 & the TTRS? For a start, you can get two new TTRS Coupe for the price of one R8. TTRS is only a 2.5L / 5 cyl & the R8 is a 4.2L / 8 cyl.

IMHO, give me a TTRS with DSG anytime. In the real world I don't think the R8 can pull away from the TTRS especially on B roads. Not forgetting you can easily take it over & above 400+hp with chipping & free flow exhaust system.
