esp light

i recently had new front disks and pads fitted (december)

for the past 4 weeks the car judders when i brake (through the steering wheel), and now the esp light comes on and off????


can you help please....

I had a friend wiht the smae problem he ended uo taking it to Audi so they could sort it, £90ph lab is the norm.

Sounds like you have what is known as "disc run out".

What happens is; when you change the discs, the hub flange that the disc sits against has to be meticulously cleaned (rust, grit etc) otherwise the disc will not sit flat. If the disc is not sitting flat against the hub flange it will behave a bit like a buckled bike wheel (if you can remember) so that when the brakes are applied they grab the high spot of where the disc is running out of true, this gives the judder.

I'd suspect two things;

1, The garage didn't clean up the hub flange sufficiently before fitting the new disc.

or

2, The disc(s) are dud and have warped which can happen.

Either way the I'd get the garage to sort it, as in my opinion, it is their problem, either way.

The ESP light is probably coming as a result as the vibration caused by the run out.
