hello all,
i only have a tape player in my 98 a3, and was just wondering what to do to get a disk changer put in, and where to get it from. any advice anyone?

Try this website. I have not purchased from them but it does let you know what is avaliable. I think Halfords may also do similar products.

Your car should be wired up for a CD changer, could be in the boot passenger side (not sure in A3).

Look here to identify your stereo and find a matching changer for it.

thanks guys. so is it jus a simple case of take it to an audio place and get them to fit the adaptor and put the changer in the boot?

Your car should have a multichanger lead going to the boot already.

It could be behind the side trim.

I would recommend getting an Audi iPod connector and an iPod Nano instead.

Even the shuffle would hold more songs than a full CD Changer.

Audi want about £75 for the interface. (although that might be for newer models) Connects2 do a stereo and ipod interface as well that is about £90.

Something to think about.

ok, but how would i connect an i-pod? it doesnt have a usb connection somewhere on the stereo?

The iPod connector i mention would be specific to your Audi stereo and would enable you to change songs and playlists through your stereo.

You can then either have the iPod out on display in a cradle - or as in the A3 - in the glovebox in its own cradle
