Hello everyone!

I should have my hands on a new Golf 1.6 TDi in September but need to choose which paint to get.

Could you post one or two exterior shots of your car and what paint it has?

Thanks very much :biglaugh:

Hi, I've added some pics of my car for you to have a look at.

The paint is Pearl Black (LC9Z is the code).

Hope it helps you decide (IMO black is the best colour but it is the hardest to maintain too).

PS, isn't the GTi above cheating as it's a Mk5? :)

So what colour is that WeegieBob?

And james_tiger_woo, I'm assuming that's Candy White?

Just be a bit cautious here: your PC monitor may not show colours accurately, unless it has been calibrated. Sorry to sound a bit geeky, but I am a photographer and know what difference a properly calibrated screen can make. Isn't the best bet to go and see some cars "in the flesh"?

I know monitors can be off and it's always best to see in real life. The garage I was at yesterday only had about 2 colours on the new golf. I have to pick a colour for my new golf by 5pm today!!!

Anyone have any pictures of Georgia Blue, Passion Red, Shadow Blue, Steel Grey or Blue Graphite?

We ordered a Passion Red Golf last week. Lovely colour, not a garish red and very classy in a "coachbuilt" sort of way - a bit of an orange tinge to it (think of the inside of a blood orange). We decided against yet another grey/silver car. And not many about, according to VW dealers.

Totally agree, I'm also a photographer, you can't rely on PC monitors to accurately represent colour unless you're using decent monitors that have been calibrated and you are using applications that obey colour profiles.

You can't rely on pictures or the brochure, we got an idea that we liked Graphite Blue and had it on the shortlist with Steel Grey. In the metal there was no comparison, the Graphite Blue was perfect for us. Our dealer said it was one of their most popular colours.

Reflex Siver every time for me as you'd expect me to say. Never looks very dirty but neither does is look very shiny but it disguises surface defects much better than shiny dark cars especially when that inevitable scratch or ding occurs.

Thanks for all the input. I've got Reflex Silver on my Polo now so know what it's like. Just been to another garage about 30 mins away and saw the Passion Red, Steel Grey, Shadow Blue and Georgia Blue.

I do like the Passion Red and Steel Grey. Not managed to track down a Blue Graphite :(

I made the following up. The 2 pictures on the left were taken by my phone so not very good. Rest are from garages on autotrader.

Check VW Uk's website for used stock, Listers in Stratford have a Graphite Blue Golf in stock. (found it by doing a search for blue golfs less than a year old in blue)

I guess I chickened out and went for what I'm used to, so I chose the Reflex Silver. Well, the wait till September starts...............

So what colour is that WeegieBob?

Too late was the cry as you've now ordered - but its Tornado Red if somebody in the future pulls up this thread in the same dilemma as you were.

WeegieBob. ;)

Psmith well done for producing that, it's very useful. I've seen a blue graphite in the flesh and it looked lovely, though we've gone for steel grey as we're boring and want to play it safe!

Looking at those pictures I prefer the graphite blue also. Black can look quite mean but looks better on the GTi as it has the body to support the mean colour imvho.

As for the butchered MkV GTi, GTFO!!! :biglaugh: Why would you do that to a car that looks so amazingly good stock :(:D.

Thats a lovely colour, we pondered getting that colour in feb, but we couldn't see any in the flesh so we went for graphite blue. I often see a mk6 in that colour which lives near myself and it looks beautiful.

I also was struggling to choose between the Passion Red, Steel Grey and Reflex Silver. I preferred the silver over the grey as I felt the silver gave the car more contrast as the grill is black for example.

Really did like that red, I think whenever I see one on the road I'll regret not going for it!

Looks good Gareth, I'm glad I went for that colour even though it doesn't seem that popular. To be honest I didn't think the choice of colours for the Golf were that good. We looked at an Eos a couple of years ago and some of the colours they offer with that were (to my mind anyway) much better than what you can get with the Golf.
Audi do a scheme whereby for an extra payment you can order any colour from the Audi range even if it's not usually available on that model. I don't know why VW don't offer that as they're all the same group.

I agree that the choice of colours does seem quite limited. As far as I can tell (because I don't speak German) they have a far greater selection of colours on the German VW site but the weird and unusual ones look quite expensive.
