Is it possible to have fitted (either by a dealer or an independent specialist), a removable towbar to a MK5 Golf WITHOUT cutting or modding the rear bumper or its lower skirt?

If such a cut or hole were needed would a suitable blanking plate be provided to cover the hole when the towbar is not required for use.

My car has a nice all silver rear end and i don't want a bloody great hole in it. http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=135&cat=500&ppuser=5699

Single electrics only.

There will never be any plans to do anything with a caravan.

any advice gratefully recieved.

Not sure what you will find on that side of the world but here is a site I use to find hitches here in the US.. If you find one that would fit you can look at the instructions to see how its installed and it will tell you if you need to cut any thing or not..

http://www.drawtite-hitches.com/

I run a hitch on my 2006 Jetta and had to cut only the plastic piece under the back to install it over the hitch to keep the air flow.. But that can not be seen with out having the car in the air..

Also I have been known to look at the instructions and it showes the hitch as made.. And then make or have a hitch made like it..

Yes they can fit a removable towbar.

No they can't do it without cutting in to the bumpers' lower skirt.

Yes they would provide a colour coded blanking plate to maintain asthetic looks.

No. I won't be paying their price.

The quote, which was broken down towbar, single electrics, blanking plate labour etc. £900 thereabouts.

Get a SIARR fixed swan neck, no cutting looks superb.
