Just wandering if anyone has any experience of upgrading the trip computer on their Golf. At present i have the low line computer but would like to upgrade to the mid or even the highline computer. Is this possible?

I also want to get an outside air temperature fitted as i really miss having it after i upgraded to my not overly spec'd Mk5 TDi SE.

Also if anyone could give me an idea of the damage this will do to my wallet please let me know.

Cheers, Dunc.

hi, think there are some links on this forum for a guy who did the mid line to highline conversion. looks like a big task and from what i understood as was interested myself is that it is a costly mod. not heard/know of anyone who has done this local or how much it cost but i too would be interested if its not too expensive/difficult etc.

Hi, just been looking on ebay today and came across this guy. He is offering a full supply and fit service for the highline compter and think price not too bad either. I am going to email him so let me know if you interested. Ill see if we can strike a deal with him !

On the other hand if you have found someone or done your let me know as i am also thinking of getting mine done as i will get full use of my mfsw this way too.

Cheers

I do a fair amount of these and can fit a new or used cluster for you if you can find one.

I am in the process of sorting this too. My only problem is that i do not know the mileage on the second hand cluster i have, and the company that i would like to fit it say that they cant change it.

Is this right? I am sure that i have read somewhere that it is possible to change it to what it should be?

Does anyone know or has anyone done this?

Thanks,

Matthew

It's possible with the right tools, yes. There's no point in offering half a service!

Ill be with you shortly shark :D

Ebay got me a highline computer part number ending with 973A for £15, cant beat that now lol.

If you are looking to go ahead with this then i sugest you buy a multifunction steering wheel(mfsw)

You will also need a steering control module and a new slip ring, the modules are turning out to be a real pain in the butt to find.

Hey shark_90 i got the clock in the end, delayed delivery :)
