Well the mirage has now become clear reality and the Golf GT has now been collected from the dealer that had been storing it for me while I moved house....................

Side skirts and front splitter also fitted :)

A very smooth drive back and I was actually suprised how well it shifted. Bit too sensible inside for me though lol lol

Hi Griff449,

Those black allloys look the biz! Pity I can't afford them, 'er indoors would have a fit if I spent so much on wheels

I'm getting mine on Wednesday. No skirts, but if it looks anywhere near as good as yours, I'll be happy!

lol Yes they do look awesome, would look really good on a silver or white, I decided they would look too black on a black car hence why there going. The anthricite ones will tone it down a bit lol

Look at the pics at the very front of the car at the bottom and you will notice an extra bit on the lower front. That has been added and does not come as standard...............

Yes bud the deed is done and its here with me :) I drove about 200 miles yesterday in it and still had way over half a tank :) Suprising how easy the speedo crept up along the way!

Just gotta keep it clean now!

Even got two IPOD connection cables out of them. Cant believe they charge £64 after the event!

Looks good

Not so sure I'd buy the BBS wheels for it, prefer the stock GT alloys, but each to there own!

Stock is boring and for sensible drivers lol

Be adventerous!

How much cleareance do you have on the front splitter to the deck?? Reason being near me they have put loads of speed bumps and my mk 5 had a sacridfical bit of plastic on the bottom of the front valance before it hit the top of the speed bump and this used to hit them quite often.

My GT scraped the tarmac coming out of my drive, with the standard front end: first car I've had in a while that did that: hope your splitter is ok.

is that front spoiler and side skirts official vw ones?

Let me know how you get on with the 19"'s I was told that running 19" with 235/35/R19 tyres causes some rubbing at the back passenger side, hence I went for the 18" wheels.

Griff449

I can still clear the top of a kirb with the front splitter on no probs :)

The side skirts and front splitter is the official VW kit which had to be ordered in from Germany and its £845 supplied, painted and fitted.

I have a spare IPOD connection cable if anyone wants to buy one who forgot to get one from the dealer :)

Will be fitting the BBS CKs in a couple of weeks once I have saved enough to pay for some rubber to go on them! So the Black VW 18" alloys are still up for grabs.

Why ruin a nice car with plastic bits?

Hey Griff...no need for that reaction:( He's entitled to his opinion, just as you are.

Griff use this to keep it looking nice

Collonite 476, i use it on my Black MK5 and it look perfect. It supposed to last for up to 12months. I just wash and dry and it looks like I just polished it, even though that was 3 months ago ;)

It was merely an opinion, a touch sensitive aren't we!

I may be all those things but at least I can see the difference between Classy and Tacky.......................Why not go the whole hog and get some fluffy dice, go faster strips and perhaps your name etched on the top of the windscreen it would fit in with your attitude and ego!

Haha nice come back Dave B.

What will Griff449 counter with I wonder...hopefully not just another rant.

I echo the sentiments about bolting extra lumps of plastic onto a brand new car. Although it looks good, there's something tacky about it however it's done.

Agreed Robbie G!

I have owned VW's for years and always like the way they where understated. Go back to the days of the XR3 all whistles and lights with nothing where it counts.........under the bonnet. GTI's and VR6's wheren't in your face.....they wore their true colours subtly!

Have to say I agree with you both, I prefer to keep my VWs stock or failing that use OEM parts only designed for that model.

Didn't VW run an add campaign a few years back (for the Mk4 I think) with a load of modified Golfs all crying because they had been 'individualized'???

All depends on what you do and where, I suppose. I really love the look of some of those big Phaeton wheels on Mk 5 Golfs, e.g. Helios or Omanyt 19s. I also liked delocking, but of course that's now standard....

Well I like the OEM splitter and side skirts, very subtle and the BBS are definitely the better choice ;:D:beerchug:

Sorry, it looks like my fault. I thought the car looked very classy and didn't need the add ons.

Simple moral is if you post pics on any forum you have to accept that all responses may not be to your liking.
