im new to this forum, but not new to my car being faulty, this time im stuck!
i was driving along at 35mph when i changed into 4th, upon releasing the clutch pedal i realised that the car had turned off with no noise or warning. when the car had stopped i tried to turn her over and the starter motor spun freely, asif there were no/low compression, the rev counter hit 200rpm and when engaged in a gear the starter moved the car in a smooth motion, no jumps. the funny thing is that the passenger window has stopped going up and only goes down??is this an indication for the fault?? any help or ideas would be greatly appriciated! I would have someone with vag-com pop around to run a diagnostics, I think the electric window fault may just be a coincidence, if your lucky it could be electrical, but If I were you I would unclip the cam cover at the top just to make sure your cambelt hasnt snapped

yea, i checked the belt first thing... i spoke to a vw/audi specialist an he said that if there is play in the timing belt the engine will pick up on it via waterpump, cams, crank sensors n so on. it makes sense, the cam has been knocking so slightly for a while, i suppose due to in accurate readings. i think somebody couldn't be ***** tightening the tensioner to the right torque setting and therefore it has come loose.... scumbags! having that guy come check it over on sat... audi quoted 330 for timing belt change. will post cure next week. thanks
