Just looking for an opinion here....
Have an 80 avant 94 with 160,000. Havent done anything on the front suspension for last 60,000 at least.
Have a little play on the front left suspension, picked up at MOT, think it might be responsible for some running judder/rumble at around 80mph.
Decided to change both front suspension mounts - local garage quoted me £48 for bush/mount with £70 labour each side.
I wondered about replacing the shocks at the same time, particularly as I grabbed a pair of surplus Delphi hydro shocks for £15 the other day.
Garage said it would take another hour or so each side to fit the shocks (I think I understood?).
Now I though £140 to fit two bushes was a little steep, and I dont think there is that much more work involved to fit new shocks if you are going to strip it down to change the mounts anyway? Am I wrong?
If garage fitted shocks they were going to add £110 each side (including the part cost).
Any opinions welcome...
Cheers,
Timk
