Audi A3 1.8 T Flat Spots

I have an S reg a3 1.8 T and when the engine temp is below 90 the car runs fine but as soon as it reaches 90 the problem occurs. no matter what gear you are in it has no power and splutters through the gear, then when you come to a stop the idle drops to 500rpm and the engine cuts out.. can anyone help??

Sounds like its not switching over from cold start mode. The Coolant temp sensor will probably be the offending item. However these also suffer from Air mass meter problems!! #Sounds like there could also be a possible air leak

how will i be able to tell if the coolant temp sensor isnt working?

They aren't expensive.
