:1zhelp: Car blowing WHITE smoke, Turbo Whining and loss of power....and now oil has been found in the intercooler (around 1 1/2 pint)????

Anyone got any ideas, the missus is missing her car and driving mine:aargh4:

She is 1999 A3 1.8 Turbo!! Thats the car not the missus!!:biglaugh:

Dead turbo, probably the result of an oil pressure problem from a blocked sump pick up. You will need a new turbo BUT do not have one fitted until the cause of failure has been established or you will wreck the new one and it will not be covered by the warranty.

Cheers mate...will look into it! Was desperatley hopin it wasn't the turbo, but **** happens!! Do you think a Reconditioned one would be ok, or havin this one reconditioned??

When my car needed one (the 180PS AUQ version in an Octavia) I fitted a genuine VAG exchange unit as I like the two year parts and labour warranty. Recon units are available from hundreds of different sources, but beware as you will be swimming in shark infested waters.
