Alright lads.

I live in Trowbridge, Wilts, about a 40min drive from Salisbury.

I'm an exciled south-easterner though, having lived most of my life in Worthing (on the south coast, nr Brighton) and also a few years in London.

Will be driving through Salisbury on Saturday morning on my way to the M27, will give you a hoot as I drive through!

Cheers

Matt. :beerchug:

Oooorrrrrooooyyytteee!

Another Westerner!

Near Swindon (Wootton Bassett). I'm regularly organising the SW meets on uk-mkivs.net, check out the SW section there as we move it around a bit so we'll be near most of you at some point!

Swindon!!!! Thats not SW, Bristol is just on the door step...Cornwall on the other hand is truly west of the the south :p

Listen, just because you're from where people aren't! Put a dot in the centre of a UK map and I'm to the South and West of it, even taking into account of the 'Midlands.' SW can be more than 5 miles across!

Look...

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/sw/sw_forecast_weather.html

http://www.westcountrynow.com/main/destinations/home.cfm

The evidence is stacking up!

Cornwall eh? Lovely part of the country, but a bit too SW to be in the SW! :D

Cornwall is lovely,I lucky to be here, its a little muse of mine though as companies tell me they are in the south west, so local! but they are in fact 170+ miles away ;)

Kernow is another country entirely :D A beautiful one at that. Possibly my favourite part of the entire world so far...

Swindon is technically in the South West region as it's part of (the North Eastern tip of the county) Wiltshire, which spans right down to the Eastern and Northern parts of Somerset and Dorset, respectively.

In reality Swindon is more central south, though there is no such official region; there is either South East or South West and nothing in between. There should be a recognised Central South region that encompasses the 'limbo' areas such as Swindon, Hungerford, Marlborough, Wantage, Lechlade, Faringdon, Oxford, Newbury, Winchester, Andover, Salisbury, etc. (old Wessex region).

On a side-note, I can highly recommend Bath for a festive night out! Sooo many good places to eat and drink!

Sussex for me. Near Brighton.

South EAST then;)

FYI, there's a uk-mkivs meet at Cheddar Gorge in Jan, possibly 17th. Although it's generally MkIV Golfs, everyone is welcome as we are steadily moving on from MkIVs. I take my Audi.

We're all very welcoming! I'll put some more details up when I have them and anyone can feel free to come along! General format is: meet, chat, pub for food. Though not everyone stays for the whole thing.

No, the thread is usually 95% gossip and 5% sorting the meet. As soon as it is, I'll post it here and if you're available, we can sort a place to meet and drive to the meet if you like, or we can just meet there.

Ah right!

If it does happen then either way I am happy, I would prefere to meet up and then go from there :)

benjie
21-01-2010, 09:24 PM
Yeah, that's fine. We usually turn up wherever we're meeting in groups of 2's and 3's anyway. Bit of a chat, they'll swarm your car as they're secretly wildly jealous of Audis(!), chat about mods (good way to make contacts for cheap parts/getting stuff fitted etc.) Then we generally pop to a pub and have some food - though not everyone comes to that.

Also, we're very good at heloing each other out. We have 'garage meets' from time to time where we all go with a job to be done and we all help each other out to get something done on each person's car - so start planning the mods!
