I ordered my Golf at the end of April with an expected delivery date of the 10th July, but it looks like I could get it next Friday (the 19th) :beerchug:

Still, I won't count my chickens, yet!

Tell me about it! I'm becoming more and more aware of the little things in my Corolla which is making me more impatient for the Golf. :nervous:

I've been given the 24th June to collect it from the dealer - only 11 days to go :approve:

You lucky bast*rd..... I was due to pick up mine on the 19th of June but the pricks sold my car under me, stating they had made and error when allocating the car to me....not good enough, now i'm up for another long wait, oh it hurts.

I hope they compensate you for that! I love the Golf, but I'm not precious about it - if they don't roll over and give you something for your trouble, I'd tell them to poke it.

It might be worth looking at the contract you signed when the order was placed. They talk about '...matters outside their control...' but what they did was blatantly their fault.

My sympathies, and until I get mine, I won't say "I'll post piccies to make you feel even worse" coz if I do, there's bound to be a last minute delay for me, or it'll fall off the boat!

How long have they given you?

Pete

That's unforgiveable. I have already been waiting 16 weeks for mine, come next Thursday and it's now scheduled to be built at the end of June for July delivery. If someone ever did/does that to me I'd tell them where they can stick their order!
I would not be prepared to wait anothe 5 months for a bleeding VW - no way!

Ordered min 14th April, got phone call on Friday - mine due this wednesday must have had a bit of overtime on!!!!

Won't count my chickens tho as i was initially promised it in 7-10 days!!!

That was about the same timescale for me, but I asked for some ff extra's so it had to be built specially for me (rather then one sitting on the dock for months!)

It was supposed to be on the 10th July, but I've just had confirmation it will be the 23th June at noon :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

Are you getting it from Bristol? If so, I might see you there ;)

I've also ordered a 1.4SE 122 with various extras but in mid April, 16th or 17th. I was told it could take up to 16 weeks but I rang the dealer last week to check if they have any news. I was told there's still no confirmed build date and that there's an issue with availability for the engine I specified. They did say there might be some news from VW this week.

Why don't you all phone Joanne Mars at Milton Keynes and find out your build dates. Don't waste time with your dealers as they are a complete dead loss most of the time.

Ooh, same as mine - except for the wheels! Thought about the 510 but decided on the other stuff instead. I've been happy with my Toyota's standard radio so I don't think this will be any worse!

They did say I could collect it this week, but being a bit tight-fisted and having already waited WEEKS, I decided they could keep it until the 24th.

That way I'll get a full year of car tax :p

Yeah i thort of that, i actually discussed waiting for 59 reg but was told they could not guarentee me having it for 1st September so i thort lets just get it!!

Think i have been stiffed on my wheels tho. Changed order to include vancouvers and was told as car was being built it was a no go but they would try and source a car with similar wheels and i would have to pay an hours labour for them to be changed over on pdi. I think they actually managed to swap at factory (as it had only just gone for in for paint) and they are trying to claw back some money as i got a stonking deal!!! so cost me 380 for wheels + 1 hours labour coming out at around 500ish but i really wanted them so am happy:biglaugh:.

Roll on 4:15 tomorrow afternoon

I've got a question about that...

When Discoveries were sold in the UK, they had steel wheels fitted on the production line and the dealer swapped them for alloys, if that's what was ordered.

What I want to know is if you paid extra for your (4) wheels, why can't you keep the original ones if the upgrades are fitted at the dealers? All the option wheels are the same price, therefore the standard wheels on a GT, for example, are options on an S?

If you don't get the originals, that means you've paid twice for them, because I don't get my standard alloy wheels for free (they're in the price of the car, like the engine, etc)

I know it's late, but does that make sense?

I wuould imagine the cost of the originals helps offset the cost of the upgrades. i.e the upgraded wheels set you back £400 but they're actually worth £600. The value of the old wheels is £200, hence offsetting the cost.

Hope that makes sense!

Hmm, I suppose so. But why are the standard wheels only worth £200? What would the standard GT wheels cost as an option on the S, for example? Surely not £200?

Picked it up on Thursday, Well chuffed. Compared to my mk5 gttdi its silent!! Steering feels much better but i agree with the lights issue, are they on or off as i didn't go for the auto option because on my mk5 they seemed to be on 99% of the time.

Love the wheels they finish it off well.

As I have said before, if you can't get this info. from your dealers then ask for the Commission Number and phone up Milton Keynes!

Ordered 2.0 GTTDI 140

Only extras were paint and wheels.

Order placed 14th April i feel i may have jumped the queue at the dealers as i suggested that we put the deal off till September as i didn't want a new 09 car for 1 month. Materialistic maybe but i think it did the trick.

Netherfield,

Have you had a bad experience with JCT??

paul.mgrath
22-06-2009, 01:43 PM
In relation to the wheels i think when you order your car you have already paid an 'allowance' for the standard wheels so if at the point of order you spec different wheels in effect a 'deposit' has already been paid on the upgrade.

Therefore i think that the 380 for the 18's is whatever vw value the 18's less their valuation of the 17's??

either way they look really really good and i am glad i had my last minute change of mind.
