ESP Light Flashing

Hi there, Ive just been reading somewhere about people using there ESP... And apparently when you hold the ESP button (to turn it off) it should come on lit up in the dashboard and stay lit. When I do it to mine... it flashes and doesnt stay continuously lit! Im not sure if its turned off, never actually tried it). Ive always done it when im stationary so its not because the system is cutting in or anything. Is it a new way of showing its off? (have they changed it?) or is there something wrong with mine? I've got a 08 plate GT Sport 1.4TSI.

what does the owners handbook suggest?

From what I remember it says it should go solid. But Ill have to double check it. Ive just never heard of anyone elses light flashing, thats all!
