Hi guys

A4 Avant, 1.9TDI Sport (130bhp)

What I really need advice on is;
- Air filters - Seen a K&N kit, any feedback/suggestions?
- Performance chips - these worth it? recommendations?
- Stainless exhaust - suggestions on brand/fitment?
- Suspension mods - Worth doing?

Appreciate your time and advice gents :D

The best thing to do with a 130PD is to simply have it remapped to around 170-190bhp.

A stronger clutch may also be a good idea when the old one wears out.

Hi there, thanks for the response!
What, how and where can I get a chip to produce that sort of output?

Should have mentioned I have the 6 speed auto box (tiptronic? no paddles though!)
Is this gearbox suitable for the power hike?

The tiptronic box should not be a problem, most tuners will limit the torque to below 280lb/ft, and remap around the gearbox.

There are usually some good deals to be had on remaps from some of the site sponsors:

I put a pipercross performance filter into my 2.4 A4 Cab - made a big difference - some say adds 15+hp to the engine :)

Also, get an RS4 ARB - not expensive - about €120 and not too difficult to fit - though does take time.

Also check your Air mass meter- if it is bad your car will be a Dog....

id like to see 15+hp from a filter on the dyno

As I said, "some say" I have no proof of this but the car was noticably more responsive after the replacement.

If you want real performance use a pair of stockings instead of a filter (just don't blame me if you ruin your engine :) )

RE-map all day long.. The filters on the PD's are not to good. The take a lot of hot air in..

We see a good 170-175hp from them.. On the box as long as its had the oil chnaged a few times then your fine...

Also are running an offer for £280 all in ...

Thanks Mike

You'd never see 15 bhp gained from a filter, I'm not sure who fed you that, but it's rubbish, even moreso on a 130 tdi.

I'd opt for a remap personally, fuel economy should see a 5/10% improvement. I'd be concerned about pushing 175 out of a 130 lump though, particularly with an old(er) tiptronic.

Thanks guys

Looks like a re-map is the way forward!

Just had the ECU on the gearbox replaced and have 106k on the clock, is a remap safe or should I get a lower mileage car first?

it more to do with the way it is going to be driven after remap, if pushed hard, more likely for things to go wrong, if used fairly normally, should cause no real problems.
