Hi guys,

I bought a 55 plate GTtdi in January from a main dealer and over time I've noticed it has a bit of random judder whilst idling when stationary. You can feel the car physically shake when it does it.

I've heard a software upgrade mentioned on various forums to fix this. Is this true? And if so, would the dealer do this for free as part of my 12 month warranty. It seems the sort of job that would be denied exists by your typical service dept?

Also, on the very odd occasion (once every week/few weeks), whilst accelerating heavily, the car will judder for 1 -2 seconds before returning to normal. I don't seem to have any acceleration problems generally, so I'm not really sure what to make of this? Anyone else had this?

Many thanks,
Neil

Is yours a 170PS 2.0TDI? It is possible, but I thought they came in on the 06 plate.

I had a software update after the DPF regeneration was happening a bit too often.

When the DPF regenerates, the car idling speed rises from 800 to 1000rpm, an dit's very lumpy between 1200 and 2000rpm.

If you have the 140PS 2.0TDI then you don't have a DPF and the issue will be something else.

Nope, its a 140ps.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is DPF regeneration? :)

Thanks for the reply!

DPF is Diesel Particulate Filter.

Slowly the filter gets bunged up and needs hot temperatured to regenerate (clean) its self out.

Hmm, just rang local dealer and they checked online history for any previous work done on my car (first time I've had to take it back since I bought it in Jan).

They said that my car has already had the ECU update, so it sounds like that is not the cause of this problem? Hmmmm. :(

Try another dealership. My local dealer wanted to charge me 90 quid for the free update. They may not wanna do it!! It takes around 90 mins.

Rang one out of town and got it done FOC.

Mine had exactly that fault and it fixed it
