now im not with the mrs i thought i'd get a smaller car, was thinking of getting a 2001-3 plate ibiza tdi, driving the passat has been pure luxury when i was doing all those miles but now i just need something nippy, but still a tdi so i can get good power through a remap up to same level (see signature)

what do you reckon guys?

how much you reckon my mint 99t would go for?

84k, fsh through either vw or a vw specialist, 3 owners including myself, cambelt on 64k, head gasket on 80k, maf, numerous sensors, coolant change, water outlets replaced from head, perfect bodywork and interior, unused spare, basically as full spec se as you can get? and chipped of course!! just after a ball park figure? have a private plate in mind to boost it by 500 quid at least too, relates to the car :biglaugh: prob spent 2k on it since i got it in parts and servicing.

dont know what your passat is worth, but sorely tempted for some cheaper motoring myself. a lupo 1.4 tdi, mapped to 115 or so, doing 60 - 70 mpg, and costing £35.00 to tax for a whole year would fit the bill nicely.

not doing it for cheaper motoring, doing it for the fact that i dont need a mini limo anymore, thinking seat ibiza tdi 110, but will be quite happy with any of the vag group small cars, not as small as lupo/arosa though, thats too small :biglaugh: whatever it is i'll be chipping or remapping to boost it up a bit, as i work in car eletrics now i may fit rear park sensors and a parrot 3100 kit to tempt a few more buyers :biglaugh: i get them cheap (to me only) :beerchug:

How about a Fabia VRS? They are pocket rockets anyway, and can be remapped to around 150bhp? (or so I've heard)

Early ones can be found relatively cheap now too.

Depends how much money you're looking to spend Stuey, £4k-£5k will probably get you a good Skoda Fabia VRS PD130 or a Seat Ibiza PD130 in either Sport or FR version depending on mileage.

I'd have thought the Passat would bring £2k-£2.5k.

Ahh yes Malc, but how much would the Mondeo have cost you in 3 years... ;) (I'm not talking about depreciation either :p)

Selling a Passat...?! How dare you...? :rocketwho

Me's been single for a while as well while driving the mini limo. Wouldn't dare to think of selling mine... Even if it was in favour for another VAG car.

look on ebay and auto tradrer for trader prices and classified's for what they are selling them for, either more mileage or lower spec/less desirable colour and they are going for 2800-3000, lot of desperate private sellers trying to get rid but they have a good market and shouldnt be selling them, i'd be appealing to the guy with a few quid but wants a quick economical one straight out the box, cant knock nearly 160hp and 65+mpg on a run, hammered it from liverpool to stafford in 50 mins an thats 67 miles and still returned 63.5mpg average :biglaugh: played with a 53 gti golf on the way back and blew him into the weeds for many many miles, he gave up after 20+ miles of constant humiliation :biglaugh: easily spent 2k on keeping it as it should be over the last 12 months

Nothing in it in depreciation they are about the same. Can't say for reliability but then my VW was not reliable at the outset.

I nearly bought a V6 Cougar but Mrs QV talked me out of it as I already had a 2+2. I do wish I had bought the Cougar. Of course I will never know how that would of been and the Pasty has been great of recent (oh dear not after this :p)

Its standard. Live 10 miles from work only gets a good run on weekends. It may get a run tomorrow or will be sitting in a jam depending on the Dartford Tunnel tomorrow.

it must be an early one, production with the 150bhp TDI started in 4 Dec 2001.

IIRC, it's the 130 bhp that was 2001>

the 150 was available from 2000>

Managed to get 56mpg out of the 150 today did'nt drive like me mum either.
Just kept out of the outside lane to resist temptation, stayed at 2000rpm or under. 2000rpm = 70mph in sixth gear.

Use 505.01 spec oil (costs minimum £35.00 for 5 litres! That's Millers XFE-PD) and you should be fine. It's just PDs are choosy about oil.
