They've arrived and ready for sale but although they are full of toys non of the stock has xenons  Also, using the same alloys that appear on the Mk5 doesn't give the MK6 a fresh look.

Looks crap. Would have been good if they had made it cheaper, had a new design of alloy wheel, circular front foglamps, no stupid boy racer exhausts. The Scirocco is a far better buy, cheaper and better equipped.

I totally agree, they have copied the fog lights from the Peugeot 308.......

The Mk5 GTI looks much, much better

But prefer the Scirocco now.

They've also spoilt the design of the Golf Plus, looks like a VW Minibus now,

Sorry to rock the boat but I think they all look great. I'd bite your hand off for a Scirocco or the new Golf GTI:D

Which one is the Golf Plus :biglaugh:

In seriousness, they havent spoilt it, it was a pointless and ugly vehicle to start with. Really shows on the used market where they are worth about £1500 less than equivent normal Golfs.

I really don't like the fogs on the Golf up there....

Just by luck I was at the dealer today (for touch-up paint, stupid stone chip!) and there was a red 5-door GTI sitting in the showroom. What immediately caught my eye was the wheels, which and I might be wrong here were almost exactly the same as the last model.

The salesman even pointed out to me the plastic under-sill covers, which we both agreed weren't much of anything, except screw-on "go faster" extras.

First impressions I have to say from an appearance point of view it didn't get the blood flowing.

don't forget that the mk6 used 60% of the parts that can be found on the MK5.

Copying the wheels is just plain lazy IMO, whether is shares 0% or 100% of components with the MK5.

Lazy - Probably.

Cheap - Definitely.

Saw a MK6 GTI 2 weeks ago tomorrow, when I was picking up my new Scirocco. The salesperson made me wait 1/2 an hour beyond my appointment time, and I was 15 mins early, so I spent a great deal of time looking at it.

I wasn't impressed - apart from the split pipes at the back, it didn't jump out as something capable of GTI performance. Those wheels should be 18" as standard now - the standard 17" ones look tiny on a GTI frame. The front end doen't stand out much either - no wonder they made the red piping on the grille 4 times thicker than previously. With so little work going into the "new" GTI, I can't see why they didn't have this available at the launch of the other MK6s.

I drove off in my new Scirocco with not the slightest bit of envy over that GTI.
