Hi all

I have a gt sport 140, Does anyone else find the outside temp really affect the average mpg because on the same round trip of 60 miles mostly motorway at 70 mph i will get 44mpg when cold ie. 4 degrees and upto 52 mpg max when around 18+ degrees. I know that when diesel is cold its like marmite but still shouldnt make that much difference should it ???

I definitely notice it on shorter trips, less so on longer trips.

I have just realised that same thing with my GT Sport 2.0 TDI 170. On a long run it usually gets 53mpg but last week in the hot weather I managed a whopping 62mpg. I was so impressed I had to take a photo because mates wouldn't believe me! In the winter the economy is definitely reduced.

I am still amazed myself, it was on a 150 mile trip where I was taking it very easy and once my average got above 55mpg I started making a point of driving as economical as I could to see if I could get it any higher. So I think that the value of 62.3mpg is pretty much the top end of what is achievable for the car. Oh and mine has only done 8k. It was about 20 degC that day too which probably helped.

And here is my proof! The tank was filled at the start of my journey and the trip was reset.
