hi there,
ive had my car for about 7 months, the car always needed opened via the key into the drivers door(only the driver door opens when i do this,is this normal?)as the remote part of the key fob was broke.i got the car put on a diagnostics machine by a VAG specialist and he told me i would need to goto audi and get a new fob and get them to code it to the car as he said faults came up concerning the central locking sysytem and he wouldnt be able to look at it without knowing where to start.anyways,i got my new key fob from audi(i had to buy the whole key as my old key had broke and was held together by epoxy)so that cast me £117 for the key and was quoted another £100 to code the key and remote to the car.
they coded the key ok but came back to me and said they couldnt get the fob to work stating there was a problem(maybe the pump)that was stopping the remote from working with my car...anyway they charged me £75 because of this..
so has anyone experianced any issues like this..ive checked the fuses for the central locking and there fine..
the car will only fully unlock when i put the key into the ignition and turn it into the first position...so would the pump be the problem here or the ecu...is the ecu part of the pump or is it a seperate item?
plus when i was looking through my fuses i notived my alarm(7.5amp)fuse had blown so i replaced that but my alarm wont come on when i lock the car..do i need to get that hooked up to a diagnostics machine to get that running again too?
if anyone can help in anyway i'd trully appreicate it..
i dont fancy giving audi anymore of my hard earned money in a hurry lol
thanks
mal

What happens when you lock the vehicle by the the drivers door,do all the locks function then ?

yeah the car locks up no problem...as i said before the fuse had blown for my alarm/diagnostic port..i changed the 7.5amp fuse but the alarm wont come on..no lights when i lock the car or the leds on the latches light up..would that need reset via a diagnostics machine...the central locking pump works ok im thinking maybe the ecu is at fault if so is that part of the pump?

If the vehicles doors, lock by way of the drivers door, but do not unlock, then the control unit is not receiving an (open signal) from the driver's door handle switch for anti-theft alarm. This can be checked in measured block values, and a fault code reading will probably tell you what the fault is .The control unit is part of the pump, and there is no need for resetting.I would start by looking at the wires from the A pillar to the door,

i had 2 engineers in my work look at my central locking issue, had the door card of the drivers door and the central locking pump out on display in the boot.there seems to be a signal issue concerning the door switch.i have a haynes manual but the wiring diagram for the central locking sysytem is different...it stated only 2 wires coming from the door switch but my car has 3,and the pump had about 14 stated in the manual but my car has atleast twice that...does anyone have a specific wiring diagram for an 98 110 tdi a3??
if so i'd love a copy so i can give it to my engineer mate to look at
