Hi guys I'm wondering if anyone can help me out here...I have a 2004 Golf GT TDI 2.0 MK5. recently the car has been juddering/hesitant at high speed.

It drives great locally at lower speeds. but soon as I hit the motorway at speeds of 70-80mph the car judders alot and becomes hesitant to go faster. but if i keep my foot down on the accelerator through the judders and reach 95mph+ the hesitation and judders seem to disappear and drives normal again.

i'm totally stumped on what it could be.I've had this problem approx 2 weeks now and only occurs a high speed (70-85mph). I've also had the car serviced recently with dealer parts. I've scanned it for errors but no fault codes pop up and engine temp, coolant etc are normal and the rev meter is normal aswell..The mileage i'm getting is around 32/34mpg.

Like i said i have no clue what it could be!!

Any help appreciated!

thanks

Do you have a howling from the car rather like a distant police siren?

Well I've never noticed..but I've had a friend tell me once that he could hear a faint whistling sound...Its not a loud sound..I can never hear it..

It sounds like turbo failure to me, extremely common on the BKD engine, especially the early ones.

Hmm...Do You know how much it would cost to repair/replace?

Depends on where the turbo comes from, genuine they are £1200 plus fitting.

OK thanks for the help..I'll check it tomorow at the garage and see what they say...I've had a few people telling me it could be the MAF sensor..not sure..
