Looking great!

Eibach pro kit springs next, will lower it nicely, improving the ride at the same time!

Looks good mate. I have the same model. Did you fit the mud flaps, or were they already on the car?

Mudflaps where on the car when i bought it :) The only things i have done ( so far ) is fit the wheels and have a re-map :)

Other than those it's standard ( for now ) :D

Good looking work there mrgasoil....nice example of a Passat well loved n looked after. My wife has the same model on a 54 in the most beautiful Blue metalic. Still on the original VW15's. I had considered maybe 17"s with a remap to approx 160bhp and possibly lowering it, but all wasted on her I'm afraid. She kerbs alloys like other people change their underpants:(

Thanks for your kind comments :)

Next mods will be to lower it a bit ;) and black out the rear windows.

Jimc64...... i cant say enough about how good this car is now it's been re-mapped. Even if that is all you do to your wife's Passat, i say do it :) I got an approx 5mpg improvement and it drives sooo much better :)

Mrgasoil.....regarding the remap, you're talking to the converted. I mapped my Saab 93 from 150 bhp to 180bhp, my Ford Mondeo ST tdci from 155bhp to 195bhp and my current 2.0 A6 tdi from 140bhp to 176bhp. I know how quick n responsive it makes the cars as well as the fuel economy gains when on a decent run.:D:D
To be fair, hers is already the 130bhp model so its pretty good anyway

Its a great car as it is I have to say, quite quick n responsive n good fuel economy too. I love the colour, heated leather seats etc etc. If it was my daily driver I'd really go to town on it. As good as the paintwork is it'd get the full treatment. The alloys would be upgraded to 17's, possibly lowered, with tints as well as the headlight bulb upgrade I've just completed on my A6 aswell as interior leds just for starters

All wasted on her though mrG:confused:....Every bit of it I'm afraid. The last car I bought for her was a Jaguar X type 2.5V6.....beautiful car totally wasted on her I'm afraid and she'd be the first to admit it.
I'm resigned to her driving decent stock runabouts as she kerbs alloys at will and it usually looks like a tip inside:(:(

OK.... just bought a 54 tdi Highline. Sorry to say its gold... but with 11,000 on the clock and all the extras for a stupidly low price... a respray is a small set back!

As I have said in another post... this is my newest car as I am a compulsive moder and have always found older cars more accepting.

So... treat me like a stupid kid... remap? I have an idea of what it is etc etc but lack details.

So...

Where can you get it done?
Is it an insurance killer?
Whats the cost?
What are the negative/positive impacts on the car?
What else should I know?

Seriously... computer stuff? I'm lost! But if you want a custom made body or speaker enclosures then I'm your man!

Thanks for helping the novice.

ive already got my remap sorted for my next car and i havent got it yet :biglaugh: love mine to bits, mine was chipped though, did wonders for my wallet in diesel costs but took 0-60 from 10.7 to 8 which is nice and annoying for all the saxos/zetec s's in my town.

I got the re-map at MoreBHP in Nantwitch for £195 ( he has a sale on at the moment , so it was £100 off:D ). As for any negatives....... i can't find any...... all positives. Improved performance and economy ;) seriously, you will be amazed if you have yours done.
As for the insurance, it's an invisible (ie no physical chip installed ) remap of the ecu so, meh, i havent told the insurance company..... if i need to, it can be re-mapped back to original spec if needed :p

My car has done 57,000 miles and it still feels nice and tight, no squeaks or rattles, and the re-map has made it the car it should have been :D. So with your's at 11,000 i'd say go for it ;)

Thanks for that.

Re-map now.... not top (that's the ICE!)... firmly on my list! Some clarity on the insurance implications would be good. Do I need to declare? If so then what effect will it have?

Just wrote off an MR2:aargh4:... sooooo.... my underwriter aint to friendly at the moment!:zx11:

You should inform the insurance company. If you don't and they find out that the car is modified they may not pay out in the event of an accident.

Having said that, remaps are transparent and cannot be seen. So how an insurance company could refuse to pay out due to a modification they can't see I don't know! :p

I'm thinking of having my van remapped. Its in dire need of it. I will not be informing the insurance company.

Thanks mate :D

I pressure washed it with tfr, then ran it untill it was dry. Switched off and gave it a wipe down with some silicone dash polish :biglaugh:
