passat central locking

hi
i have a 2001 passat tdi and my central locking is not working of my key fob. the dealer said it is the central locking control unit/receiver. would anyone be able to tell me where it is located in the vehicle.

My 2001 passat 1.8T central locking for the passenger doors stopped working from the key fob, however the drivers door and boot were both able to be opened from the fob. The garage said it was the convenience system, but on them resetting the system, removing battery connection and reconnecting, the centeral locking worked again. Magic?

I have had loads of problems with my passat locking. i am fed up now, Surely VW know about them, the same faults happen with all models.
