Wipers fault

Hello all. 2000 (W) Ibiza 1.9sdi MK3. My wipers have suddenly started switching on all by themselves, it can be rear only, front only or both together. They go for a short time but varies and just stop again. It can be ok for a while or they can go a few times one after another...any ideas?

It seems to have sorted itself out as it's been ok for the last 2 days ??? maybe the microprocessor had a funny 5 mins.:confused::D
