Wishbone bushes help!!

Guys hows all?.Im lookin to get my hands on a pair of wishbone bushes.Anyone direct me?Mk 4 1.6 99...Thanks...

The Lower Control arm (LCA/wishbone) uses two wishbone bushes;


Front bush
Rear bush

Of these, the rear bush is usually more likely to be worn and so require replacment.

The Front wishbone bush is VW part number: 357.407.182

There are various replacement alternatives for the rear bush (VW part numbers following), in order of increasing stiffness these are;


Original voided rear bush: 1J0.407.181
Audi TT non voided rear bush: 8N0.407.181.B
Powerflex (http://www.powerflex.co.uk/products/Golf+Mk4%2C+Bora-437/1.html) rear bush: PFF85-410 (http://www.powerflex.co.uk/product-details/Front+Wishbone+Rear+Bush/893.html)


While the original/voided bush has better ride comfort, it provides less steering response compared to the Audi TT rear bush, which should also be more durable due to the abscence of voids/gaps in the bush rubber compound.

The Powerflex rear bush, is even stiffer than both the above.

Whereas the Audi TT bushes are supplied from VW/Audi/Skoda/Seat dealers.

If you are looking for a straight replacement for existing LCA rear bushes, I would recommend purchasing the original/voided bushes. Lemforder (OEM quality) voided front LCA bushes are approximately £6/bush from ECP.

Either quote the VW part number (mentioned above) or your car registration when ordering.

If you want to make your life easier, fit a pair of new wishbones (those by Febi are very high quality) as they come with a pair of new bushes installed so you don’t have to press the old ones out and new ones in which is awkward without a press. You could also consider fitting Powerflex
