Well the bullet has been bitten and I find myself the owner of a 99 2.8 iSport. Came to me with tickover issues but having reconnected all intake pipes that were off for some reason the car will quite happily sit at idle now.
However as soon as you drive away and come to a junction/roundabout the car will work down to 500rpm and then die.
One of the intake pipes to the airbox was off and also the pipe from the airbox on so that the car would not run and I could not test drive (which having now had a go have realised that the brakes are so dangerous he did not want me to drive it).
Any ideas on my idling issues gratefully received...
Thanks

i would be tempted to point you towards the camshaft sensor, common fault on bmw which leads to car stalling when hot. fine when its cold. shouldnt be too expensive to change, diag should pull it up.

Thanks for the reply.
Turned out to be the MAF sensor. £53 from Euro Car Parts and all is good.
