Hi,
I recently did an oil, filter and air filter change, replacing the 10w40 castrol gtx magnatec oil for Mobil 1 0w40 fully synthetic. Ever since the engine makes a distinct whining noise, the pitch is related to road speed and not engine revs as the noise remains when the clutch is pressed down. It sounds very much like a turbo spinning up however i doubt very much that the turbo pixies fitted one over night for me :p
Has anyone else had this whinning noise after changing to a thinner oil?
If so should i be worried?
car is an audi a3 1999
1.6sport
190,000 miles
touch wood i have never had any problems with the engine whatsoever
The only possible thing that could be related is that my starter motor is on the way out and makes a loud shreak whenever you start it but that lasts about a second.
Thanks
Paul
