Im saving up for my remap, do i need to do any other engine work or get any upgrades to maximise the remap, or can i do it after the remap and still have the same results.

I heard you can tune an 1.8t enginer to 225bhp.. many remaps ive looked at brings it up to about 210bhp, so is the other 15bhp from like exaust systems, smoother intake pipe, as ive also heard the a3's intake pipe restricts flow.

please help

With a remap you should also get an uprated DV valve, the standard plastic ones are prone to split the plastic diaphram with the extra boost created from the remap. Forge do one called 007P I think and around £90.

As for 210 or 225bhp is it an A3 1.8T or an S3 you have? The S3 came in two flavours one with slightly more HP than the other. If its the A3 1.8T you have then you will need to change some engine internals to get that sort of BHP from it.

After re-reading your post I think you have an A3 1.8T so you can expect 180/190BHP with a stage one map. You dont really need a new exhuast unless you go for a stage 2 map.

REVO, CC, Chipped UK all do good maps. Dont get a generic one get one that is done for your car in real real time, i.e. tghey tweak it/get the best out of it by testing on the rolling road etc.

On good fuel you can see over 200hp , With out pushing them too much.. And as above you dont have to but the DV is a good thing to change . the stock one's are weak and tail off the boost a bit more than the forge one's !

Most re-map's out there are for STG1 car's i,e car's with little or know mod..

Hope that helps

Mike

OK thanks you two. i would like to get a custom remap though not trhough the stages, i was thinking of getting an unprated valve anyway, yer ive got the quattro t sport. which is 180 bhp standard. on companies ive looked at they all say 210 bhp with a custom map, thats the same for the 2wd drive which comes 150bhp standard. Ive got vag specialist near me that do exausts and they have a rolling road to. yer i would like to do internal work neway, heard about head work etc, ive heard as well that my intake is resrictive and that i should get it changed.

Yes the quattro version is the same as the standard A3 1.8T but has a slightly different map at factory. Also there is talk that you loose up to 30BHP just because of the 4wd system. So all in all a standard 1.8T will be more noticable gains from a stage 1 remap.

I have a W reg A3 Quattro Sport , Hybrid turbo conversion , changed exhaust and a few other things, stage 3 revo remap , and its now running a 340 bhp conversion

You can get a lot of power out these cars if you intend to spend a fortune :-)
