Hi sorry if this has already been talked about, but i picked up a Golf V6 4motion (2001) today and drove it home over a 100 miles and the water gauge never left zero.

It drove well and there seems to be on problem with the engine, but i'm just a bit worried that the gauge did not move.

could it just be a case of a stuck needle on the dail or could it be a lot more serious???:1zhelp:

Any help anyone can offer would be great

thanks
Patrick

i should think it is broken temp sensor. Have the car scaned that might be able to tell you more.

I had the same problem with mine.

Turned out to be the Coolant Temperature Sensor, its the 4 pin green connector, costs pennies and easy to fit.

...its the 4 pin green connector, costs pennies and easy to fit.
Costs about £24 for a genuine part that will resolve the problem, or pennies off fleaBay for something naff that you're praying will work.

Very easy to fit and if you're quick, there will be minimal coolant loss. Do a search, there are many threads that tell you how to whip it out quickly, so to speak.:D

Thanks for the reply,

I'm going to have a look around to see if i can find a demo on the web that shows how to did it on a V6 as the ones i have seen are for the smaller engines. On my engine i cant see it.

To change the sensor with min. coolant loss.
Cold engine, remove pressure cap to release the pressure, replace cap.
Change sensor !
