Just had an outer cv joint replaced at a good independant. The abs now cuts in at very low speeds (2 mph ish) under gentle braking. They are going to sort it next week. Anyone else had this problem ?

They have dsisturbed the abs sensor ring and/or sensor. They will know this when they look. I'm surprised they didn't check it out before giving it back to you.

They haven't pushed the sensor all the way back in.
Easy to do yourself.
Just push hard on the sensors - you may need to use a small bock of wood/rubber mallet etc depending how strong your fingers are.
You may not even notice it move - 1mm out can cause this!

Too far in and it will grind the end off the sensor, we see that a lot.

Fair point - my front ones have a lip to stop them going in too far

The abs sensor ring may be loose - remove the abs sensor and try to rotate/move the sensor ring with a screwdriver. If it is loose add a few dabs of super glu in the gaps in the sensor ring (use a tube with a long nose and apply it through the hole where the sensor goes!). Happened to me bout 10,000 miles ago and been fine since. :D

Thanks everyone for the help

Car went back in yesterday and they found the sensor needed pushing in 2 or 3 mm. Exactly as you said.
