A6 2.5 TDI sounds like bag of spanners (fuel pump problem?)

Hi

My 1996 2.5 TDI Avant (85kw, AAT, 5 cyl) sounds like a big bag of spanners when its driven!

Have checked valve timing and all is OK, but think it is a fuel pump issue? Anyone got any ideas??

Have looked at getting a new pump (Bosch Part No. 0 460 415 994) but it costs a fortune (£1000+ all inc.)!!.

I really need to find a used one from some where. I have sent emails to the states, china, germany and all over the uk but to no avail, can this part be this rare??

this part took me four weeks to find as a used part

they were v quick and helpful
