Hi all,
Thanks for the welcome. Will post photos after a play with the new toy...

Sadly missed Ibis White S3 fully loaded ,,,hello to a new Avant A4 2.0 Diesel 170 S line Quattro due to buying a German Shepherd ( Not the kind of guy who herds sheep in Frankfurt by the way) but the furry kind. Arrives Wednesday with the following-
Lava Grey Pearl. Paint.
Parking System Plus.
Bluetooth Mobile phone Prep High.
MMI Tech. Pack Sat Nav plus.
Electric open/close Tail Gate.
Privacy Glass.
Interior Light Pack.
Hill Hold Assist.
19" 7 spoke alloys.
Reversible Boot liner and back bumper protector.
Electrical folding operated door mirrors.
Dog guard.
A4/S4 Storage pack.
Silver stitching on seats, gaitor and mats.
Suspension lowered by 30mm.
Really looking forward to the car and good feedback for Aberdeen Audi as they have lent me a car F.O.C. for the last two months after selling my S3..

Another nice spec...I like the addition of Auto tailgate, first one I have seen on here.

Tell me, after leaving behind an S3 how come you opted for a diesel engine?

I would also be interseted in what you think of the reversible boot liner and bumper protector. I got one with my car a couple of weeks ago and don't really rate it.

Privacy glass wasnt available when I orderd this last June.

At the risk of opening up a can of worms (refer to another lenghthy thread) are you sure you're getting the 30mm lower suspension with 19" Alloys. At one time only 20mm was available with 19's - has this changed ??

Enjoy.

Still the same only 20mm available on 19''s. My order confirmed today. BTW, servotronic now standard on all MY10 B8s.

Opted for a diesel after spending all my savings on the S3,s fuel tanks ability to vapourize petrol at warp speed.
No to be honest never having had a diesel and now having an avant I thought it would be a chance to mellow into fast car retirement and give a diesel a go.

The boot liner was a freebee during my time served ability to reel in salesmen. I will let you know what I think of it.
It is purely for the dog and to try and keep my pride and joy nice.

Thanks for the picture ,,,,,, But guess what the background on my laptop is,,,,Yes the same pic, mmmm real nice and near on the same car as you say minus the privacy glass.
As for the suspension I also read the lenghthy thread and after speaking to my Audi man was told the S line was 20mm lower than standard anyway and I would get an extra 10mm lower so making it 30mm lower? mmmmm , was he telling me porkies.

Hi, it always seems to be a very confusing issue with the difference between Sports Suspension (-20mm) standard on the S-line specification or the in lieu S-Line suspension (-30mm) free option? Page 14 of the current "Price and Spec" by Audi. But is it not a bit **** about face!?! I mean if I ordered an S-line then would I not automatically excpect the S-line Supension as standard? And if as many people are saying there is a compatibility problem with the 19 inch wheels with the -30mm drop then how could Audi not clarify the situation, I know that on the German Audi.de site there is only a problem if you have the dynamic suspension with this config. By the way if you want a laugh see how basic the German cars come, I mean you can almost Pick And Mix with your spec!!

Dunk.

Yep now very confused, I will wait and see but it should still look the biz with the 19" bad boys filling the arches, and it is a no cost item, but agreed they should sort the wording out to match what exactly can be done.
By the way does anyone have any good ideas or things to do /ask on picking up the car from the showroom? I,m always after that little bit of personal attention and the obligatory freebee seeing as I am about to part with a wheelbarrow full of ready,s

OK, now for complete clarity can any Audi Specialist answer the question if the standard S-line Packet is ordered (Build spec PQD) What would you excpect:-

1:- Audi Sports Suspension Standard on S-LIne(-20mm) STANDARD

2:- S-line Suspension (-30mm).

Or must you opt for S-line Suspension on your options list (ie. 1BV) to get the very low suspension! A matter very close to my heart at the moment!!:aargh4:

WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT, my goodness if you retrospectively fit OEM 19 inch wheels to your s-line suspension car(-30mm) but privately bought are you in danger.

I see your point ,yes you could have the full -30mm drop with the 18" standard wheels and later opt for 19" and be in trouble ,,aarrrhhh i havent even got the car yet and having thoughts of rubbing tyres on wheel arches with a load in the back...

Hi all...

I've had this out with Audi (uk) Just last week...

S Line = -20mm as standard with 18" or 19" wheels
S Line = -30mm optional with 18" wheels only.
If the dealer lets you pick the -30mm and the 19" wheels, when it goes to order or comfirmed order the 19" wheels will be what you get and not the -30mm or both.
Audi say that under extreme instances the inner wheel arches have come into contact with the tyres. I think it's to do with the extra width the tyres are compared to the 18" wheel/tyres.
Also Audi see it as £635 in there pocket instead of £0.

If anyone else would like to comment please do so.

Thanks

Yes thought about it and looked at it in the showroom but no,,, have you seen the size of a full grown male GSD it big man. In saying that is the s3 sportsback boot capacity the same as a A4 . It didnt look it to be honest hence the A4.
Also didn,t fancy the same car again as such although I really loved my S3 due to the colour and the re map I had done taking it to 308BHP,,.
The A4 will do the job

I asked for the lowered suspension and the salesman didn't bat an eyelid "certainly sir it will look great with the 19" wheels you have opted for"
It is on the confirmation sheet I have in the house and I will be checking it when I pick up the car on Wednesday afternoon.

I've also rang Audi (uk) about this and they tell me the same.

Me thinks you'll be getting 19" with a 20mm drop and not the 30mm drop.

If I'm wrong then I"LL BE ON TO AUDI (uk) Myself....

That didn't give me this mind set ... it just re-affirmed what I already knew. :D

Bear in mind I worked with Audi UK for around 3 years on behalf of the TT Owners club. I used to supply everyone with info and they'd go into the dealers and play with the salesmens minds.

The poor sales guys are always the last to know .... and it's mainly coz they don't do their home work. I guarantee most people on this forum know the ins and outs of the A4 brochure, price list and car better than most sales people.

Anyway we'll see if I'm a sceptical old ******* or someone just stating facts when the trusted dealer delivers the news ;)

Hi Scotty

Suggestion get a new dealer after you have collected your car !!

It may restore your faith :biglaugh:

Maybe you should start at an A4 Owners club on this site. As I know you could get the inside track

Agreed. When ordering my B8 I asked "tell me about Audi Drive select" the salesman looked at me blankly and said "sorry, my product knowledge is terrible" which almost made me pee myself with laughter..
Thankfully I knew what I wanted and he was only there to listen to my spec and then come up with a deal. Almost like a website, only a human.

Car is really nice and still playing with all the gizmos.
One poor point though, I ordered the Avant as I have now a rather large German Shepherd puppy of 8 months who thinks he is a small horse..... ScottyUK
14-05-2009, 07:22 PM
Can you measure the sill height or something? We need to compare numbers? I can't believe the factory would let it thru....or perhaps more correctly I can believe a dealer who's never heard of it is in all innocence/ignorance claiming it is the full drop.

Have you had a look and compared to a 20mm drop?

73kingstonroad
14-05-2009, 07:59 PM
Hi...

Me thinks they are pulling the wool over your eyes as to the 30mm drop.
The memo clearly states if the s line suspension -30mm and 19" wheels are ordered only the 19" wheels will be fitted. They will not drop the 19" wheel option as it is a cost option and as plain as the nose on your face that something is not as it should be and the fact that they will be £650 lite on the invoice.

In the boot there should be a sticker with all the car codes and option codes printed on it. There is also a web site (seen it but not book marked it) that can tell you what each code is...

As for a measurement floor to door seal or rim to arch, remember the car is new and the springs will need about 3 to 6 months to settle to the correct height. Which may well be as much as 10-15mm.

Yes Factory fit Privacy glass,
Its just as I would like it, darkens the inside enough but not over the top and you have to vertually get your nose up to the glass to see in.
Thanks for the comment ,the wheels are real nice and fill the arch pretty well and thats with an empty car.
