My car is a 2001 1.9 TDI:
I have noticed some "oil" or other black fluid leaking at the front off-side (driver's side: UK); not a great deal but enough to get onto the cooling fan that spreads it around.
The only unit I know is in this area is the air-condittioning.
The engine itself, sump etc., still looks clean.

PS: I've just checked my power stering and the oil level is down to its MIN. - may not be relevant.
